Do you love exploring new places, even in your own town?
Do you consider yourself curious?
Do you enjoy doing and making stuff?
Would you consider a sense of humor a crucial family value?
Is variety not just the spice of life, but the main course?
If love is the food of life, is travel the dessert?
If your head is bobbing up and down in response to these questions, welcome home. Even if you’re unsure–perhaps your head is itching to bob right now–come along and sample the possibilities for fun with your family both at home and on the road.
Bring the Family is more than a family travel blog, because many families–including mine–can’t always be on the road. Often, parents fall into a rut of obligation and fatigue, feeling like there’s little time to escape or play in our daily lives. But there are opportunities all around to do the things you did before parenthood–and to try some new activities with a kid’s-eye view. There’s plenty of fun to be had in your own back yard and on the road–and I hope to inspire you to bring the family along for the journey!
As a family travel writer and parenting columnist with three sons who never stop moving, I have a few ideas about how to help busy kids channel their boundless energy. Our family also loves to wander, whether for a Sunday drive (last weekend) or driving the Alcan (coming in 2009), so look for tips and tricks on traveling and exploring with kids, and the occasional grown-up getaway.
I hope Bring the Family will inspire you with ideas, how-to’s, honest product and gear reviews, crafts, travelogues, and tales of living a hands-on life–topped with a healthy dose of humor and fun.
Thanks for stopping by.
